Previous figure shows FDF Explorer applied to a bank software system running on top of four physical hosts where all the applications are Java-based software, then a Java Runtime Environment is deployed on each host. The Local Toll application is simply implemented as a pure Java-based program. The VISA server is implemented as a Web servlet running on top of the Apache Tomcat servlet container. The EExpress server is implemented as a JBI assembly running on top of the OW2 PEtALS JBI container. Finally, the Bank server is a JEE application running on top of the OW2 JOnAS JEE application server connected to the MySQL database server. Thus, this bank example illustrates perfectly the abilitity of FDF to describe, deploy, and manage complex distributed and heterogeneous software systems.
